Training courses

Since 2004 the Zeri Foundation has run specialist training courses on epigraphy and history of art, liaising with Italian and foreign universities. They are designed for young scholars and PhD researchers.
Villa Zeri at Mentana has been refurnished for this purpose and appointed with computer stations.
The specialist courses on epigraphy curated by Angela Donati of Bologna University are intended to exploit the important collection of ancient inscriptions housed at the villa as part of the Federico Zeri legacy. This is not only an outstandingly rich collection (some 400 pieces) but forms a veritable “manual” of epigraphy with its wealth of wide-ranging inscription styles.
Specialist training programmes in the history of art focus on subjects connected with Zeri’s own work and research. Their common denominator is art in Rome from the 13th to the 19th century.
The courses consist of classroom lessons given by university staff and other specialists, interspersed with guided tours of the places in question, so as to provide direct comparison with the works at first hand.

Mentana, Villa Zeri, specialist training courses in the history of art

Fondazione Federico Zeri and Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti organise a cycle of Specialist training courses on the theme of landscape.
The lectures will focus on history, culture and preservation of landscape in Italy and will be given by art historians, historians, geographers, architects, photograpy historians.
The courses will take place in Bologna at the Fondazione Federico Zeri and in Venice at the Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti.

2008, excursions during the course "Paesaggio: immagine e realtà"

Other Foundation ventures include organisation of seminars, workshops and meetings at the Bologna centre. Together with topics connected to art history training, there will be more technical training for the specialist: conservation, restoring and cataloguing of the historical and contemporary photograph heritage.
