In the early months of 2018, at the behest of the Carl-Heinz & Helga Kliemann Foundation, and of Carlotta Fonzi, the copious library of Julian Kliemann (1949-2015) was donated to the Federico Zeri Foundation. Historian of art, professor at the University of Münster, in his time a researcher at Villa I Tatti and at the Bibliotheca Hertziana, Kliemann was one of the leading specialists in iconographic Renaissance studies.

The scholar’s library numbered 5,000 volumes, most of which will gradually be incorporated into the Zeri Library and made available for consultation.

As well as books on art history – focusing largely on the Renaissance in Italy and abroad, ancient sources and iconography studies – the collection includes photographic material and research documentation.
